The breach will “unfortunately lead to a lot of targeted hacking, phishing and doxing,” Alon Gal, co-founder of Israeli cybersecurity monitoring firm Hudson Rock, wrote on LinkedIn. He called it “one of the biggest leaks I’ve ever seen.” Twitter has not commented on the report, which Gal first posted on social media on December 24, nor has it responded to questions about the rape since.

Troy Hunt, creator of the breach reporting site Have I Been Pwned, saw the leaked data and said on Twitter that it looked “more or less as described.” There were no clues as to the identity or location of the hacker or hackers behind the breach.
