Pearlessence Couture Collection 2019 at Pantene HUM Showcase By Rizwan Beyg
In the historical context of the historic mausoleum of Talpur Mir, in Hyderabad, Rizwan Beyg presents “Pearlessence”, a collection that pays tribute to the three decades he completes this year as the pioneer designer of Pakistan. This is the haute couture in its true essence, carefully crafted by hand, which reflects the eye of Rizwan for the detail and the impeccable delicacy of its construction. It is also a collection that is synonymous with the designer’s long passion to seek and revive indigenous craft techniques, translate them into sustainable designs and take them without problems from the field to the track.
True to its name, ‘Pearlessence’ is dominated by a retinue of pearls assorted with delicate embroidery of thread and sequins rolled over them. These ornaments have been handmade by artisans living in the south of Punjab, working under the direction of BUNYAAD, a project founded by Rizwan that is dedicated to following the pattern “Change lives … one stitch at a time”.
The embroidery stretches on a monochromatic ivory canvas, with silhouettes that flit between tradition and modernity: lehngas, tight bodices that extend down into the mermaid skirts, the hybrids of the trousers, the kurta with eternal class and the shirt of buttons exquisitely adapted with large pockets.
Far from the commercially striking realms of today’s clothing, there is a refined elegance for “Pearlessence”. It is a collection that refrains from following the latest fashions, dedicated in its place to pieces of eternal relics destined to be used with love and appreciated forever.
