Controversial film Joyland receives the green light for its release
Controversial film Joyland receives the green light for its release. The controversial and award-winning film Joyland has just been greenlit for its November 18 release. After receiving the go-ahead from the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC), the film will be released with some changes. Salman Sufi, head of the Prime Minister’s (PM) Social Reforms Unit, also broke the news on Twitter.
Earlier this month, on November 11, the Pakistani government banned the movie Joyland from theatrical release across the country. Several written complaints were sent to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, alleging that the film violates “the social and moral norms of our society” and should be banned. The ministry also said in its notification that Joyland will not be released in theaters under the control of CBFC. Please note that the CBFC has issued a certificate for the release of the film in August.
