The opposition puts the ‘great show’ at the Iftar dinner in Islamabad

The opposition parties presented a great show at an Iftar dinner organized by the President of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in the federal capital on Sunday. This is the first time that Bilawal and Maryam Nawaz came face to face as key leaders of their respective parties. The daughter of the prime minister on three occasions, Nawaz Sharif, headed a delegation of PML-N leaders, including former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and the opposition leader of the Punjab Assembly, Hamza Shehbaz.

The PML-N delegation was personally received by the PPP president upon his arrival at the Zardari House in Islamabad. Bilawal greeted Maryam and hugged Hamza Shehbaz, while Maryam slapped her on the back in return.

The co-president of the PPP, Asif Ali Zardari, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Liaquat Baloch, the leader of the Qaumi Party Watan, Aftab Sherpao and the leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) Among other prominent politicians attended the dinner.

On Friday, Bilawal held a meeting of the central committee of the PPP to discuss the current financial crisis in the country and establish a strategy for the anti-government movement of the party that announced that it will be launched after Eidul Fitr against rising inflation, the International Fund of the Monetary Fund (IMF) and the deterioration of economic conditions.

The participants of the meeting included Yousaf Raza Gilani party leaders, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Farhatullah Babar, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Rehman Malik, Chaudhry Manzoor, Naveed Qamar, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Humayun Khan and Pulwasha Khan.

Later in the evening, former President Zardari met with the JUI-F chief to discuss a joint strategy against the government and the possibility of forging an alliance.

The opposition parties are preparing to face the government after the country’s financial crisis and the increase in the prices of basic products.

PPP goes to PML-N for a strategy against the government

The PML-N will hold a meeting on May 20 to discuss its future course of action. He was expected to remain in the opposition leader’s chamber, but now sources said it could be carried out at the residence of party leader Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.

The JUI-F chief has already announced that his party would march to Islamabad and close the federal capital in protest against the government’s policies.
