PTA partners with Telco franchises for easier mobile registration with DIRBS

The Telecommunications Authority of Pakistan (PTA) recently launched the Device Identification and Identification Registration (DIRBS), making it mandatory for everyone to have an officially registered phone. For those who do not know, your phone would be blacklisted and will no longer work in Pakistan if you are not registered with the PTA. This includes all new devices that are brought into the country through online purchases or flight baggage.

However, the PTA has good news for mobile phone buyers or anyone who brings phones from abroad.

PTA has facilitated the registration of imported or unregistered phones. As the Minister of Revenue, Hammad Azhar, announced a few weeks ago, the PTA partnered with Telcos throughout Pakistan to register mobile phones with DIRBS. In other words, mobile phone owners can register their phones in any of the hundreds of telecommunications franchises in Pakistan.

Now you can register your phone in any mobile franchise in the country, which will greatly facilitate the registration process.

According to the official statement issued by the PTA:

  • To facilitate consumers who wish to register the IMEI of their mobile devices, the Telecommunications Authority of Pakistan (PTA) through Mobile Cellular Operators (CMO) has made available the mobile registration service in the CMO franchises throughout the country.
